Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-06 · Draft — review with counsel before launch.
gifai is a tool that edits GIFs you provide. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Account info — when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile (name, profile picture) to create your account and track your credit balance. We do not receive your Google password.
- The GIFs you bring — files you upload, paste, or link, plus the text prompt you enter, so we can produce the edited result you asked for.
- Usage & billing — jobs you run, credits consumed, and (if you buy credits) a Stripe payment record. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Basic technical logs — request metadata used to operate the service, prevent abuse, and debug errors.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of service providers to run gifai, and share only what each needs:
- Google — sign-in (OAuth).
- fal.ai — the AI models that perform the edit. The GIF you submit and your prompt are sent to fal.ai to generate the result.
- Stripe — payment processing when you buy credits.
- Vercel — hosting and serving of the app and API.
- Neon — the database that stores your account and credit records.
Retention & deletion
We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required for tax and legal purposes. Source GIFs and generated results are retained only as needed to deliver and support the edit. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
The gifai extension
The browser extension stores your sign-in token and settings locally in your browser. It communicates only with the gifai backend to run jobs and manage credits. It does not read the pages you browse, and it acts only on GIFs you explicitly bring into the popup.
